Writing Modes
Learn about the different writing modes.
Beyond the default writing mode that snaps to form the characters, there are two other writing modes: raw squigs and rawest squigs. You can find these writing modes by tapping the hamburger icon in the top left-hand corner. Then tap on "Settings" and swipe down to "Writing Canvas Settings".
Raw Squigs - Unlike the default writing mode, raw squigs does not have pretty stroke snapping. This writing mode will provide you with a writing experience that is more like writing on pen & paper. Stroke recognition is still enabled for this setting.
Rawest Squigs - This writing mode will provide you with a pen & paper writing experience, especially when combined with Stylus Mode. Be prepared for a challenge, as this mode does not have hints or automatic grading. Once you're done writing your character, you can check your answer and give yourself a grade. This mode is perfect for preparing for classroom quizzes, or for anyone looking to truly master Chinese/Japanese handwriting.
You can also change the writing mode while studying by using the Quick Settings drawer in the top right-hand corner.
