Study Reminders and Goal Notifications
Build a stronger study habit with daily reminders and goal notifications.
Learning Chinese or Japanese is all about consistency. Skritter can remind you to study at a time that works for you and celebrate your progress as you reach your daily goals.
Daily Study Reminder
Turn on the Daily Study Reminder and choose what time you'd like to receive your reminder each day.
Once enabled, Skritter will send a study notification to the device you've enabled the reminders on at the time you've selected. You can also opt in (or out) of getting alerts depending on your preferences.
Study reminders use your device's notification system. If notifications for Skritter are disabled in your iOS or Android settings, reminders will not appear.
Steps to enable reminders:
- Tap the Hamburger menu from the Home screen
- Tap Settings
- Go to the User Settings screen
- Tap Daily study reminder
- Configure reminders to your liking
- Accept push notifications on device
Goal Notifications
Skritter tracks your streaks and study progress and displays an in-app message when you reach a learning, review, or study streak goal.
These messages are separate from your Daily study reminder.
Disable goal notifications
In-app messages distracting you from your studies? Enable the Disable goal notifications and skip showing alerts when learning goals, study goals, and streaks are achieved.
Disabling these notifications does not disable your goals or stop Skritter from tracking your progress. It only hides the goal-completion message.
Leave this setting turned off if you'd like to see a message when you hit a goal.
Steps to control goal notifications:
- Tap the Hamburger menu from the Home screen
- Tap Settings
- Go to the User Settings screen
- Toggle on/off the Disable goal notifications
Building Study Habits
Reminders work best when they're tied to something you already do every day.
For example, you might schedule your reminder:
- During your morning coffee
- On your commute
- After lunch
- When you finish work or school
- Before your evening routine
You don't need a long study session every time. Opening Skritter and completing a few reviews can help reinforce the habit and keep previously learned material fresh.
Skritter's spaced repetition system will take care of deciding what needs reviewing—you just need to show up.
